FEEL, THINK, HOPE represent three interconnected dimensions of wholeness within the human condition.

FEEL — Physical Health
Feeling represents our physical health—how we experience our bodies and the actions we take as we interact with the world around us.

THINK — Mental Health
Thinking represents our mental health—how our thoughts, beliefs, and perceptions shape our lives and influence the lives of others.

HOPE — Spiritual Health
Hoping represents our connection to God—the soul's ability to look beyond the present circumstances and anticipate a positive future grounded in faith, purpose, and possibility.

There are three interconnected dimensions of human wholeness: the mind, the body, and the spirit. Each represents an essential aspect of our humanity, and none can be fully understood in isolation from the others.

FathomFTH is a unique interdisciplinary approach that seeks to integrate these three core dimensions into a holistic health paradigm designed to sustain well-being and save lives.

Merriam-Webster defines fathom as “to penetrate and come to understand.” The human condition is complex, and understanding another person requires us to look beyond any single dimension of human experience. We can only begin to fathom ourselves and one another when we recognize and integrate the mind, body, and spirit.

This principle is particularly important in addressing suicide. Suicide is a complex human phenomenon that cannot be adequately understood through a single disciplinary lens. Effective suicide reduction efforts must consider the whole person and extend across the continuum of prevention, intervention, and postvention.

FathomFTH therefore seeks to bring together perspectives from mental health, physical health, spirituality, medicine, psychology, social services, education, public policy, and community engagement to better understand the interconnected factors that influence human well-being and suicide risk.

At its core, FathomFTH is built on a simple premise:

To save lives, we must seek to understand the whole person.

Mind. Body. Spirit.
Understand the whole. Sustain well-being. Save lives.

Dr. Tony Campbell

3 John 1:2 reads:

“Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.”

Tony's research on the intersection of faith in suicide prevention is leading new paradigms of care on the subject.  As a former Army Chaplain, he was dismayed by the under-utilization of the Chaplain Corps in counseling soldiers and airmen who were going through suicide ideation.

The loss of our essential balance is caused in part by experiencing PTSD and other traumas.  These events, as well as the incredible increase in addiction of all types, has drained our reservoir of spiritual resiliency.  Unfortunately, most therapy is focused on psychological or pharmaceutical therapeutic methods while soul recovery is left out of the healing process.

His groundbreaking research Every Life Matters to God has been downloaded on six continents, sixty-three countries and 24 institutions including the Navy Network Information Center, the DoD Network Information Center, the National Health Service, the Department of Veterans Affairs and the Department of Homeland Security.
